HYDROTHERAPY IN ADELAIDE
Using water as a means of rehabilitation from injury and surgery (hydrotherapy) has been a long standing method employed for centuries.
Why? Well the unique properties of water support your body as well as applying a uniform gentle resistance and therefore can be very effective in moving an injured body part or assisting after surgery.
At Leading Edge Physical Therapy we offer Hydrotherapy classes from our Henley Beach location – held at the nearby Seaton Swim Centre.
What Happens In A Hydrotherapy Class?
Under the direct supervision of our experienced physiotherapists you will be given a specific individualised program which will be designed to help you recover in a safe and efficient way.
This may involve the use of aids such as flippers, floats, paddles, stretch cords and underwater steps.
Classes run for 30 minutes, with an extra 15 minutes unsupervised time available if desired.
Do I Need To Be Able To Swim?
No – not at all. We regularly look after people who have never swum in their lives.
All exercises are performed in waist to chest deep water, with the face never being required to enter the water.
All people can feel safe in our hydrotherapy classes.
