Pilates Matwork Classes
What is Pilates?
In the 1920’s Joseph Pilates (pronounced pi-lah-tees) developed a unique system of exercises.
Pilates uses a series of basic principles to teach a sequence of movements to consciously control all muscular movements in the body.
In recent times Pilates has become popular as a method of rehabilitation for low back pain and preventing reoccurrence.
Pilates Matwork Exercises (pictured) are the cornerstone of the Pilates Method, and are a great introduction into Pilates.
Leading Edge Matwork Classes are group based exercises with different options provided for conditions as needed.
During the 10 Week Beginner’s program, as a group, you will learn basic Pilates concepts, exercises and stretches. Your exercises will be progressed during the program as you improve. Options can be provided to suit most injuries/conditions.
As the program is progressive, attendance at all classes is encouraged. If you are unable to attend a class, you may be able to attend one of our other classes as a “make up”, subject to availability. “Make up” classes will need to be taken during the current term program.
Following this program we also have Intermediate and Advanced programs.
Before the class
You will need to complete a pre-exercise questionnaire prior to attending our Pilates Mat Work Classes. This is to ensure our Pilates Mat work classes are suitable for you to attend. Depending on your responses a Pilates Physiotherapy Assessment may be recommended prior to starting the classes.
Please click HERE to complete your pre-exercise questionnaire.
If you are currently experiencing lower back pain a Pilates Physiotherapy Assessment is recommended prior to starting Pilates.
Please call 81591300 (Henley Beach) or 83646800 (Rose Park) to arrange your Pilates Physiotherapy Assessment or you can BOOK ONLINE with one of our Leading Edge Pilates Physiotherapists (Jennifer Game, Jacqui Haskett, Sarah Perkins, Lauren Rodato, or Sally Trotter) .
You have two options for Payment of the Matwork program:
Pay Upfront For Term
If you pay for the whole program up-front at the start of the term, you will receive one class free.
A 10 Week Program costs $198 (instead of $220 before the discount).
Pay On The Night
If you would prefer to pay as you go, we require a $66 deposit payment for the first three classes to secure your place on the program. It is $22 per class attended following this.
With both options, Pilates matwork classes may be claimable on your private health insurance – please check with your health fund.
