Pilates Equipment Classes

Pilates Equipment Classes

What is Pilates?

In the 1920’s Joseph Pilates (pronounced pi-lah-tees) developed a unique system of exercises.

Pilates uses a series of basic principles to teach a sequence of movements to consciously control all muscular movements in the body.

Pilates Reformer

In recent times Pilates has become popular as a method of rehabilitation for low back pain and preventing reoccurrence.

The Pilates Reformer (pictured) is one of the most popular pieces of Pilates Equipment.

Class Structure

In our Pilates Equipment Classes your individual program, specifically designed to assist your goals, is performed in a small group.

Reformer PilatesFollowing a Pilates Physiotherapy Assessment, an Individual Pilates program will be devised for you by a Leading Edge Physiotherapist including Reformer and Mat work (floor based) exercises. You will also be encouraged to continue the Mat work exercises at home.

Clients are then encouraged to attend 1-2 classes a week, for a 6 week program in order to get the maximum benefit from performing the program.

“One on One” Pilates is also available for you to continue if preferred.

We offer Pilates Classes at both our Rose Park and Henley Beach locations.

Our Pilates Timetable outlines when our classes are held.

You will need to have a Pilates Physiotherapy Assessment prior to attending our Pilates Equipment Classes. The 45 minute assessment with a fully qualified Leading Edge Physiotherapist (reclaimable on private health insurance) will involve examination of any injuries or problems to ensure the Pilates program is suitable for you and helps to achieve your goals.
